STEVEN R. H. BEACH, Ph.D., is the Director of the Institute for Behavioral Research and Professor of Psychology at the University of Georgia. For the past 15 years Dr. Beach has been examining the role of marital processes in depression. He is interested both in the potential of marital relationship variables to protect against depression as well as the potential of depression to precipitate marital problems. More recently, he has focused attention on the role of self-evaluation maintenance processes in marital satisfaction and marital behavior. Dr. Beach is interested in prevention and treatment as well as developing better models of the linkage between intrapersonal and interpersonal systems. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at State University of New York at Stony Brook.
